Panel

Dr Noella Gormley is a co-founder and core member of NWBAPS and is passionate about sharing evidence-based information with regards to breastfeeding and perinatal support. Noella is Mum to two daughters, aged 7 and 4, and found breastfeeding helped heal the trauma of both an emergency and planned caesarean. Both girls breastfed and self-weaned at 18 months and 4 years, respectively. Noella embraces every opportunity to increase the visibility and awareness of breastfeeding in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, celebrating events such as ‘World Breastfeeding in Public Day’.

Dr Sarah Brennan works as family doctor with a special interest in Breastfeeding Medicine and women's healthcare. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine and board member of the European Association of Breastfeeding Medicine. She is on sabbatical from her role as a lecturer with the University of Galway Medical School in Donegal. And most importantly is mother to 5 lads who taught her all about breastfeeding and the deep need to have full legislative inclusion of the Code.

Dawn Bradley is dedicated to working both antenatally and postnatally, offering invaluable support to families through the journey of pregnancy and beyond. With a deep passion for empowering women, Dawn fosters an environment of kindness, fairness, and non-judgement. Whether helping families prepare for the arrival of a new baby or supporting them as they navigate the early stages of parenthood, Dawn is committed to ensuring each family feels heard, respected and cared for.

Aideen Carey is a La Leche League Leader in Co. Tyrone where she lives with her husband and two amazing children. Aideen experienced unique birth and breastfeeding journeys with both her children. Aideen has supported many families virtually and in person and helps facilitate the nationwide online antenatal breastfeeding course, ‘Beginning Breastfeeding’, hosted monthly by La Leche League of Ireland. La Leche League Leaders are internationally accredited breastfeeding counsellors who have breastfed their own children. If you want to do the same, whoever you are, whatever your story, they are there to help.

Charmain and Jay are first time parents to twins Aelin (A-lin) and Fiánn (Fee-awn) who are 10 months. From day one, Charmaine said it was definitely twins and after their first scan, all they could do was laugh. A mother knows! Charmain describes their experience breastfeeding as a beautiful, enduring rollercoaster having faced tongue tie, reflux, feeding tubes, mastitis and a Pavlik harness!

Charmaine and Jay kept an open mind and leveraged all the advice available to help them adapt. Everything from breast, expressed, combo, and learning new feeding positions and techniques. And because of this, they have been able to continue tandem feeding the twins with no plans to stop just yet.
