Retro Game Design
Event Description

In this MakeCode Arcade workshop, young people will tap into their creativity and coding skills to build their own 8-bit video game!

Participants will design their in-game spaceship before coding a game where the spaceship must navigate through an asteroid field, blasting obstacles along the way. Using MakeCode Arcade’s beginner-friendly block coding, they’ll learn to program the game’s movement and design unique, pixel-style spaceships.

Players will control their custom spaceship to dodge or destroy asteroids, gaining points. This fun, hands-on project teaches participants the basics of game development, creativity in character design, and problem-solving as they bring their space game to life! Perfect for aspiring coders and game designers looking to create and play their own arcade-style game.
