Feeding Babies in a Changing Climate

Mind & Body
Feeding Babies in a Changing Climate
Event Description

The need for food affects every human being, so what happens in NI when there’s an emergency that disrupts our access to healthy food and clean water?

Babies and infants are among the most vulnerable in times of crisis, we’ll discuss why this matters in our changing climate.

Breastfeeding is the shortest food chain, contains adaptive antibodies and changes to meet threats to babies' health. In times of increasing environmental disaster and displacement, the supply and demand nature of breastfeeding provides nourishment.

The annual value of breastmilk is estimated to be $3.6 trillion, however, Breastmilk is still not considered In global food count statistics. Our panel will discuss the protective role of breastfeeding and how it impacts our climate.
