Brain-Computer Interface, Science or Science-fiction?
Event Description

Dr. Kathy Ruddy from Queen's University Belfast will talk about the state-of-the art Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) research. Dr. Ruddy uses several types of BCI in her research, to modify aspects of human brain function and apply this work towards developing new techniques for enhancing brain recovery following injury or stroke.

The Matrix (1999)

Following the talk, take a deep dive into the world of The Matrix (1999), one of the most influential sci-fi films of all time.

Directed by the Wachowskis, this iconic film follows Neo, a computer hacker who uncovers the mind-shattering truth about reality—that everything he knows is a virtual construct controlled by an evil cyber-intelligence.

With its groundbreaking special effects, philosophical questions about the nature of reality, and the human-machine connection, The Matrix is the perfect film to explore themes of artificial intelligence and brain-computer interaction.
