Understanding & Resisting Bullying

Understanding & Resisting Bullying
Event Details

Bullying, manipulation, coercion and abusive talk and practices cause serious, long term, harm to children. They present significant, seemingly intractable, challenges in schools and elsewhere. Creating a culture in the school context that is resistant to bullying is essential … and is achievable.

This event draws on evidence-based research and psychological theory to examine talk and practices that can be considered as bullying or abusive. The discussion will help children and teachers to develop a deeper understanding of how and why bullying talk and practices, such as social isolation, work to create lasting harm. We will explore some creative examples of how bullying has been challenged and we will work together to imagine new approaches.
