Badminton School Science Outreach
Event Details

Badminton School Science Outreach team are very excited to come to Northern Ireland to go into schools and deliver a fun-filled science show delivered by their very own students.

Around 78% of every breath we take in is nitrogen, a gas so familiar that we rarely pay any attention to it. Join Badminton’s Science Outreach team to see some amazing demonstrations based on nitrogen in its liquid form, where its boiling point of -196oC is exploited to explore the behaviour of materials at very low temperatures. When Physics gets this cool, bananas become brittle enough to shatter, some metals can be turned into magnets and liquid oxygen can be trapped in thin air so you can watch it boil in front of your eyes.
