NI Opera are collaborating with Dr Trevor Agus, senior lecturer at Queen's University Belfast to deliver a seminar exploring the different systems and temperaments used to tune instruments throughout different eras of history.
Delving into the grey area between art and science, we will explore the scientific theory and methodology behind tuning and delve into musical theories and treatise, and will ask the question; which tuning systems work best for the performance of different styles/periods of Opera?
Whether you are interested in tuning from a music, maths or physics, perspective this workshop is sure to lift the lid on the topic.
