In 1987 two geologists, Mike Simms and Alastair Ruffell, both now in Northern Ireland, discovered evidence for a huge increase in rainfall 233 million years ago. Now considered as the ‘Dawn of the Modern World’, how was it discovered, and how has it influenced the World around us today?
