These events will bring together artists, astronomers and environmentalists to raise awareness of light pollution in the city and build communal activism about who has a right to the night sky.
From 3-5pm an immersive film will be projected on the ceiling of a dome in Girdwood Community Centre. The film invites the audience to stargaze by following a 12 month star almanac, drawn by Aisling O’Beirn representing stars and planets that should be visible, but are not due to light pollution.
From 5.30pm - 7pm there will be an interdisciplinary talks programme with speakers including Household, artist Aisling O’Beirn, a member of The Irish Astronomical Association, and Armagh Dark Skies/ Fermanagh Dark Skies.
This event will focus on the question: How do we access the night sky in Belfast and how can citizens get involved?
