Peatlands in Action: Restoring Nature, Protecting the Future
Event Description

Join us for a fascinating journey through the heart of the Sperrins’ peat bogs and learn about the vital role these unique ecosystems play in our environment. Led by An Creagáns Peatland Officer, this interactive event will include a talk and demonstration on peatland restoration efforts aimed at protecting wildlife, improving biodiversity, and combating climate change.

Afterward, we’ll embark on a guided walk across the boardwalk on An Creagán Bog Nature Reserve, where you’ll see firsthand the restoration work in action and learn about the hidden wonders of this vital habitat. From sphagnum moss to rare bird species, peatlands are teeming with life—and they play a crucial role in storing carbon and regulating our climate.

Suitable for all ages, this event is a great way for families to discover the importance of peatlands and how we can all help protect them for future generations.
