Paws on the Ground: The Realities of Search and Rescue Dog Team
Event Description

Join Trevor Hartley and his mischievous cocker spaniel, Tess, for a 30-minute talk about the world of search and rescue dogs. As part of a valued team at Search & Rescue Dog Association, Trevor and Tess respond to call-outs in all weathers, using their skills to search for missing persons. Trevor will explain the three types of work his dogs do—air scenting, trailing, and cadaver searches. He’ll share insights from his own callouts, the emotional toll on family and social life, and the serious nature of the work, even when Tess is having a bit of fun stealing socks! Proceeds from this event will go to SARDA.

Note: Due to the sensitive nature of some discussions, this session is recommended for ages 14 and up.

This event will take place in the Main Room.

There will be time for your questions at the end and we invite you to see the dogs at work with an outdoor demonstration which will follow the talk.
