Walk in the footsteps of the early map-makers with local historian Mark Doherty. This gentle walk connects with the history of Irish map-making, particularly the first Ordnance Survey of Ireland. Learn about the evolution of Irish map-making, particularly as this applies to the University area. Be introduced to the stories of the remarkable cartographers who revolutionised the way the world looks at maps & mapping. This tour includes an opportunity to get ‘hands-on’ with historic maps.
This walking tour will begin at the gates of Queen’s University Belfast and will take 1hour 30 minutes. This is an outdoor event, please wear suitable clothing and footwear for all weather conditions.
