Event Description

As part of the NI Science Festival and Queen’s 180th anniversary, Special Collections & Archives presents a drop-in exhibition in the Reading Room, showcasing treasures from our scientific holdings.

Explore rare books and manuscripts on chemistry, electricity, and the natural world, including papers of Belfast chemist Thomas Andrews, early works by Isaac Newton, and beautifully illustrated volumes on Irish flora and fauna.

Highlights include handmade Chemistry Society bulletins from the early 20th century, Andrews’ scientific ruler and ozone tube, and reflections on electricity’s impact on Irish life and literature.

Discover how science has evolved at Queen’s since 1845, and how researchers have shaped—and been shaped by—its rich history.
