Event Description
This event will be delivered by the staff from the Northern Ireland Longitudinal Study of Ageing (NICOLA) QUB in the Northern Ireland Clinical Research Facility (NICRF) based in Belfast City Hospital. It will be an engaging, hands-on health station where you can experience simplified versions of the NICOLA study’s health assessments. Example activities will include grip strength tests, balance checks, blood pressure readings, and body composition analysis (e.g., body fat, muscle mass, BMI). This offers the community members the opportunity to try non-invasive health checks they may not have access to at home.
This is not medical advice but is an opportunity to try out assessments used in Northern Ireland’s largest longitudinal study of ageing. Where results fall outside of typical ranges (e.g., high blood pressure, low or high BMI).
While the event is open to all ages, we will highlight that the NICOLA study specifically focuses on individuals aged 50 and over.
