NI Science Festival are delighted to announce the return of Belfast Science Café with a special screening of feature-length documentary film: Picture a Science.
PICTURE A SCIENTIST is a feature-length documentary film chronicling the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. A biologist, a chemist and a geologist lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, overcoming brutal harassment, institutional discrimination, and years of subtle slights to revolutionize the culture of science. From cramped laboratories to spectacular field stations, we also encounter scientific luminaries who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all.
Post Film there will be a short interval before a panel discussion with notable female scientists from Northern Ireland, Prof Joan Condell from Ulster University and Dr Lindsay Broadbent from Queen's University. This discussion with be chaired by Dr Vic Simms of Ulster University.
Please join us as they reflect and debate on some of the issues raised in the film. Audience questions are welcome.
The film will be screened live at the Black Box Belfast for those who wish to attend in person. All tickets must be booked before attending.
For those who wish to access the film via a viewing link at home a link will be sent to you to access the film on the day. Please note this link will only be available for 72hrs.
