Event Description

A Group Exhition Celebrating the Use of Maps featuring Karen Daye-Hutchinson, Aisling O’Beirn, Shauna Fox, Chris Wilson, Alan Fitzsimmons and Ken Bartley.

Maps have always been the foundation of how humans understood their surroundings. Historians and
Artists make use of the science of maps to interpret and comment on the world.

Ken Bartley, curator of the show, was a co-author of an Atlas of Medieval History, published by Manchester University Press in 2006. As co-owner of the ArtisAnn Gallery, with Ann McVeigh, this show reflects his interest in maps as a key part of art, science and history.

The artists and scientists in the show use maps in different ways to highlight how the earth and space can be understood.
