Death of a Glacier - Exploring the Coastline around Killard Point

Wednesday 7 July, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Suitability: All Ages

£5

The coastline around Killard Point records the events and processes that operated in this area from 15,000 to 13,000 years ago during the closing stages of the final glaciation to affect Ireland. The site is of such importance that this short period has won a place in the scientific literature as the Killard Point Event. Join the Geological Survey of Northern Ireland to explore this internationally significant section of our coastline, find out what it can tell us about past climate change and what we can learn about our future.

Meeting point: Ballyhornan Car Park

Please wear stout footwear and warm, waterproof clothing.
